The mission of the Kirkland Art Center is to educate children and adults, to advocate for artists and the arts, and to engage the community in a range of cultural experiences and opportunities.

This is truly possible only with the inclusion of a rich diversity of voices,
experiences and perspectives.
Cultural equity embodies the values, policies, and practices that ensure that all people—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic
status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are represented in both the practice and appreciation of the arts.
By promoting cultural equity within our own programs, staffing and outreach, the Kirkland Art Center pledges to position itself as a local leader in cultivating an engaging and supportive environment for cultural expression that accurately reflects the wealth of diversity in our nation
and community.

Our History

The Kirkland Art Center was established in 1960 using the second floor of the town library as a meeting place. From the beginning there were classes, exhibitions, films, concerts, and lectures. The KAC is now an active regional multi-arts center, housed in an old church, barn, and connecting addition located on the village green in Clinton, NY.

Our Present

Our mission has stayed steadfast over our 60-year history and we are committed to including the rich diversity of voices, experiences and perspectives in all we do. With the help of our community, members, volunteers, funding sources, and guidance from the NYSCA, our programming is always evolving as the world around us changes.

We welcome people of all ages and abilities to join us in engaging with the arts in our community through classes and workshops, live performances, and exhibitions.

Our Future

Our ongoing Capital Campaign is helping us to develop the community arts center of the future— including a new roof (completed) and our culinary arts studio.

We want this next era of the KAC to be shaped by you, our beloved community members. We hope you’ll consider volunteering, sharing your thoughts, and supporting the future of the KAC by becoming a member or making a donation today.
