Welcome to KAC’s Sketchbook Challenge. Twice a week we will share a theme for you to work with in your sketchbook. You can respond to the theme in any way you wish, using any art supplies you may have on hand. For families, consider having one sketchbook in which everyone creates their own response to the same theme, or have everyone add to a single page as you respond to a challenge as a family. Everyone’s goal…take the theme in any direction you would like! When you are done, post a picture of your work on our Facebook page.

Sketchbooks: If you have a sketchbook on hand, that is great! However, if you don’t have a sketchbook you could use printer paper, the back side of wrapping paper, paper bags, notebook paper, index cards, backs of envelopes, old manila folders, etc.

Materials: If you have a stash of art supplies like watercolors, colored pencils, crayons, pencils, or markers…any and all can work for your response to the theme. If you have limited supplies, you can use pencils and pens to create your responses. You can layer your pencil or pen marks to create deeper values. Old makeup can even work!
