KAC Live Upcoming Concerts

Gibson Brothers: Friday, January 26th, 2018

Gibson Brothers Live at the KAC

KAC Members $25

General Admission $28

Gibson Brothers PosterThe Gibson Brothers’ brand of bluegrass is a visceral mix of heritage and soaring harmony, making them the premier brother duet of the genre, following in the footsteps of legendary brother acts such as the Stanley Brothers, Jim & Jesse, and the Osborne Brothers. Their first-ever album of entirely original songs, In The Ground sees the Gibson Brothers taking on their own roots as the sixth generation of Gibsons to grow up on their family farm.

The two-time International Music Association Entertainers of the Year follow up their stellar, 5-times nominated tribute to brother harmonies, Brotherhood, with this latest effort, which digs deeper into their commitment to family and their history. The themes come from the farm, their childhood, and the region in which they were raised. One can hear their dedication to the songs, from the lighthearted to the profound; in the modernity of the lyrics, matched with the virtuosity that feels somehow both traditional and revelatory. Featuring celebrated, award-winning Dobro player Rob Ickes, In The Ground reaches into new territory for the Gibson Brothers as they reflect on their past.

Jeremy Wallace Trio

Saturday October 28, 2017 at 6:30pm The Jeremy Wallace Trio will perform live at the KAC. General Admission $18, KAC Members $15.

Edgy, dangerous and with a great emphasis on the raw energy of his craft, Wallace emerges with a stunning sound with a little folk, a tinge of rock, some country, and loaded with gritty blues.

His collection of songs are a reflection of Wallace’s station in life: he has fallen in and out of love again, busted a few knuckles and bruised a couple of shins. Even though his loyal following will notice a certain wistfulness in the lyrics, they will also recognize a new confidence in Wallace’s voice and guitar. His humor has gotten a little darker and the sound a little looser.

Get to know the trio’s music here!

Saturday November 4th, 2017 at 7:30pm Ben Hunter & Joe Seamons will perform live at the KAC. General Admission $18, KAC Members $15.

“Folk music is storytelling.” – Ben Hunter

The duo Ben Hunter & Joe Seamons have been playing together for over five years and they’ve got a lot of stories to tell you.

Classically trained on the violin since age 5, Ben Hunter tried his hand at the fiddle for the first time as an adult. Growing up in Arizona via Zimbabwe and Lesotho, Ben draws musical inspiration from his unique experiences.

Joe Seamons grew up in the backwoods of Northwest Oregon, listening to local folk music played by sawmill workers, loggers and fishermen whose music reflected the character of the region. While they’ve got very divergent life stories, they due combine for an amazing acoustic blues set you’ll not want to miss.

Darryl Rahn

Saturday November 25th, 2017 Darryl Rahn will perform live at the KAC. General Admission $8, KAC Members $5. Doors Open at 6:30pm / Show Starts at 7:00pm

After a sell-out crowd last year, Utica-born and Brooklyn-based Darryl Rahn returns to the KAC’s stage for this holiday concert! Become captivated by Rahn’s straight-ahead singer-songwriter folk music, most of it centered around the lyrics and sparse but effective acoustic guitar accompaniment.

Rahn has shared the stage with national acts such as Guster, Wild Child, and Daniel Bachman, and is currently on the road supporting his latest record, ‘Everything Is Fine.’

On Saturday, November 25th, Darryl will be stopping at the Kirkland Arts Center in Clinton, NY where he will be playing songs from his entire collection, along with a few popular covers and originals that have yet to be recorded.

Visit his website for more music here!

*Tickets are first come first serve. The KAC has a no refund policy on concert tickets.

QoR [pronounced ‘core’] has been formulated to embody the essence of watercolors while offering these unique qualities:

  • Vibrant, intense colors that stay brilliant even after they dry
  • Exceptionally smooth transitions, flow and liveliness on paper
  • Excellent resolubility in water and glazing qualities
  • Vivid depth of color with each brushstroke
  • Greater resistance to cracking and flaking
  • More density of color than traditional watercolors

Dear ARTS Supporter:

2016 has been a year of positive transition for the Kirkland Art Center!

In June, the Board of Directors appointed Megan Ratcliffe as Executive Director (she was previously the KAC Membership Coordinator and Programming Director). In addition, the KAC has had many successful programs in the music arena with many more to come. Classes have enjoyed good attendance (Dance, Zumba, Nia, Line Dancing, Pottery, Painting and many more). Community events like the Annual Gala and the KAC RUN/Walk, The Spring Recital, The Nutcracker Ballet, monthly exhibitions like our Annual Members Show, the UCP Show, Mohawk Valley Watercolor Society, and Just Add Water II were just a few highlights from this past year.

The KAC also received great support from NYS Council of the Arts, Oneida County, and several other private funders. That said, the KAC could not continue its’ mission of promoting the ARTS without our faithful annual contributors, like you!

Please consider a gift to the Kirkland Art Center to maintain access to the ARTS everyday here in our region. The KAC has had a creative impact on our community since 1961, let’s keep the tradition alive!

Best regards,

Elizabeth C. Tantillo, KAC Board President
