Marketing Director

Organization:

Founded in 1961, The KAC mission is to educate children and adults in the arts and cultural experiences, in addition to advocate for the arts and artists.

Summary Report:

Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Marketing Director will spearhead marketing efforts including promotion and institutional development of the Kirkland Art Center within Oneida County and adjacent regions. This position will coordinate assigned activities with other staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, and outside agencies.

Representative Duties:

The following duties are typical, though additional or different duties may be required to address changing needs.

  • Assume management responsibility for the promotion and institutional development of the Kirkland Art Center within Oneida County and adjacent regions. In conjunction with other staff; develop, produce, and coordinate outreach programs for the Kirkland Art Center.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Kirkland Art Center.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate staff; implement improvements.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and implement the marketing plan for Kirkland Art Center services and activities.
  • Manage revenue development for the Kirkland Art Center including overseeing and monitoring cash flow, revenues, and evaluating quarterly financial reviews.
  • Administer and ensure proper grant application, develop and secure funding through grants, fee for service, as well as business and individual membership and donations.
  • Represent the Kirkland Art Center to councils, commissions, the community, service groups, and a variety of outside organizations and agencies; coordinate assigned activities with outside agencies and organizations.
  • Participate in the planning, establishing, and maintaining Kirkland Art Center community cultural development.
  • Oversee, promote and coordinate specific activities within the Kirkland Art Center program; prepare program event and facility marketing material including news releases, flyers, schedules of events, pamphlets, and brochures.
  • Produce and coordinate a variety of events and productions at the Kirkland Art Center.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Kirkland Art Center’s annual budget; participate in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of arts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA (required), MA
  • 5+ years experience in marketing and/or development
  • Understand the trends and applications of effective public relations
  • Ability to conceive, create and implement effective marketing programs
  • Produce and direct public events with an artistic and/or fundraising theme
  • Operate office equipment including computers and supporting software applications.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Teaching Positions – Workshops / Classes

Internships Available:  

Kirkland Art Center is looking for interns to help us in the following areas:

PR/ Marketing/ Social Media

This internship offers the opportunity to receive practical training in public relations, marketing, as well as art administration.  Students will have the opportunity to work closely with Kirkland Art Center’s Executive Director and Office Manager.

Opportunities include:

  • Collecting information for press releases and draft copy
  • Interact in person, over the phone and via e-mail with the general public, artists and volunteers
  • Assist with advertising materials for print, television, radio, and social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment
  • General administrative duties as needed

Administrative Assistant

This internship offers the opportunity to receive practical training with the administrative side of operating a non-profit arts organization.  Students will have the opportunity to work closely with Kirkland Art Center’s administrative staff.

Opportunities include:

  • Develop new media and organizational contacts
  • Assist with evaluation strategies for current Kirkland Art Center classes, events and opportunities
  • Organization of classroom spaces
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment
  • General administrative duties as needed
